TNEER Valvetronic Exhaust System for Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman 2017-2025

The Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman share a mid-engine platform built around a 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four across their respective specifications, producing between 300 and 365 horsepower depending on variant. The transition from the naturally aspirated flat-six of the previous generation to the turbocharged flat-four was one of the more discussed engineering decisions in recent Porsche history, and the exhaust system is a primary contributor to how the 718's acoustic character is perceived relative to its predecessor. On a forced-induction flat-four mid-engine platform, back pressure management downstream of the turbocharger outlet and mid-system flow geometry are the defining exhaust engineering variables. TNEER engineers this valvetronic system specifically for the 718 Boxster and Cayman, with mid pipe routing, mounting geometry, and system architecture developed to the exact mid-engine chassis layout shared by both body configurations across the full 2017-2025 production range.

Each section is formed from single-piece high-grade stainless-steel tubing using robotic pipe bending technology, producing continuous tube geometry throughout the system without the weld joints and flow disruptions of multi-segment construction. The mid pipe addresses the exhaust path between the turbocharger outlet and the valvetronic muffler section, establishing the flow characteristics and back pressure profile that define the system's performance contribution at the mid-engine level. The system installs to all factory mounting locations on both the Boxster and Cayman across all variant specifications, requiring no structural modification and maintaining correct chassis alignment throughout.

The valvetronic mufflers are managed through the TACS, TNEER's proprietary App Control System, which gives the driver full manual authority over valve position through a dedicated application interface independent of driving mode or vehicle operating condition. For 718 owners, the TACS introduces on-demand acoustic control to a platform where the factory exhaust presents a fixed output regardless of throttle input or mode selection. Valves closed, the system maintains a composed tone appropriate for road use while presenting more of the turbocharged flat-four's character than the factory exhaust allows at any throttle position. Valves open through the TACS, the full acoustic output of the 718's flat-four is unobstructed and responds directly to throttle input and engine speed. On a mid-engine sports car platform where the exhaust exits directly behind the cabin, the distinction between valves closed and valves open is particularly immediate and visceral.

Two tip configurations are available to complete the system at the rear fascia. The dual silver tips provide a clean, high polish finish consistent with the 718's precise, purposeful aesthetic. The carbon fiber tips present an alternative for owners whose build direction calls for exposed carbon at the rear, complementing both standard and modified 718 builds.

Optional Downpipe Configurations

For owners who want to address the primary restriction point in the exhaust path, TNEER offers two downpipe specifications that deliver meaningful performance and acoustic improvement beyond what the valvetronic muffler system alone provides.

  • The race downpipes remove the factory catalytic converters immediately downstream of the turbocharger outlet, where back pressure reduction has the most direct effect on turbine behavior, spool characteristics, and mid-range torque delivery. On a turbocharged flat-four mid-engine platform, the relationship between downstream restriction and turbocharger efficiency is immediate and measurable at every point in the rev range. These components are intended for closed course and off-road use.
  • The 200-cell sport downpipes retain a high-flow catalytic substrate in place of the factory units, reducing restriction significantly while maintaining a level of emissions compliance appropriate for street-driven builds. For 718 Boxster and Cayman owners who require a balance between full-system performance and daily usability, the 200-cell specification delivers a substantive upgrade within a practical operating profile.

All downpipe components are fabricated from high-grade stainless steel and engineered to the same fitment standard as the remainder of the system.

About TNEER:

TNEER is built around a single engineering conviction: the exhaust system is not a peripheral component. It is the primary interface between the engine and the driver's experience of it. Every system TNEER produces is developed to bring out the true voice of the engine it is built for, improving exhaust flow and delivering a distinct tone that is mechanical, raw, and directly connected to the character of the car.

The manufacturing process that defines TNEER's fitment standard is their high-tech robotic pipe bending technology. Rather than fabricating exhaust routing from multiple welded sections, TNEER forms each tube from a single continuous piece, bending high-grade material to navigate the spatial constraints of each specific engine bay without the diameter reductions, flow disruptions, and structural inconsistencies that welded multi-piece construction introduces. The result is an exhaust system with continuous tube geometry, perfect fitment to the platform it is built for, and no compromises in the routing that precision bending makes unnecessary.

For enthusiasts who regard sound and performance as inseparable elements of the driving experience, TNEER engineers each system to deliver both from the first throttle input.

Note:

  • Downpipes are not CARB certified and may not be legal for use on emissions controlled vehicles; intended for off road use only.
  • ECU tuning may be required due to removal of factory catalytic converters.
